They have some big important decisions to make. That's where Retro Moto and Heroes & Generals stands right now. It's that simple.Ĭompanies and their games that don't adapt become irrelevant get left behind just like old technology. Lots of excuse making, but little proposed problem solving goes on around here.Ĭompanies and their games that don't adapt become irrelevant get left behind just like old technology. Making excuses for these guys doesn't make the game better either which I find a lot of people have been doing. Living in the past with a dated and limited engine isn't going to keep this game relevant or fresh. The game technology is dated, limited and not going to sustain this community much longer. Sure it's some work, but in the long run it matters most. Much of the content can simply be converted to another engine too. Rewrite network code, rework some game content and good to go. Swapping engines really isn't too big of a deal really. If things need to be reworked to be better, then that's exactly what should happen rather than a bunch of excuse making. People just need to stop finding reasons to avoid change and instead embrace change more openly. There are dozens of ways they could change things for the better. They could also work on much of this behind the scenes not affecting any current game play states. Limited engines evolve limited games and don't allow much headroom for greater improvement which in turn, encourages players to stick around. It would also stimulate this game's community. Actually, changing the engine would bring a lot of new potential to the game and allow for a much wider range of content and feature options. Yeah because to "ditch" the old game engine could not end up to hurt the game more or delay it jeeez borg. New content and improvements are very much lacking. I do agree though that the maps are stagnated and reworks have been completely worn out. It's just way too limited and lacking in features to produce something exceptional and substantial. You can put your name down for an Alpha-key now at the Heroes & Generals website.Originally posted by BORG:I'm all for new maps, but I don't see too much exciting happening until they ditch this engine they're using. "We call H&G a 'Mass Participation Game', a term that not only describes the ease of access and massive-scale warfare, but also our goal to create a game that embraces open feedback from the community at every step - including our current Alpha stage."

"Heroes & Generals is a PC game that's fully playable in a browser, yet it offers state-of-the-art graphics and sound thanks to the proprietary Retox engine built by Reto-Moto," Reto-Moto said. These players manage battlefield assets and decide where to push the attack. Strategic officers, however, play using the War Server, which displays the entire map. Soldiers play the game as a FPS, with infantry and vehicular combat the order of the day. The game is a persistent, online-focused World War 2 first-person shooter in which players assume the role of a soldier or a strategic officer. In 2004, after Eidos bought IO, the founding members left and reformed their old company. Reto-Moto was in fact the studio that transformed into IO Interactive. Heroes & Generals, a browser-based PC game, is the work of Reto-Moto. Former Hitman developers have started a new studio and announced their first game: Heroes & Generals.
